Roadmap
PlannedKeep your existing WhatsApp provider when the connector lands
Gupshup is on the roadmap and is not built. WhatsApp sending today routes through Meta, Twilio or DoubleTick, all of which are live in the product.
Gupshup is a roadmap item and is not connected. It would add another WhatsApp routing path for India-market desks that already hold a Gupshup relationship. WhatsApp itself is live today through Meta, Twilio and DoubleTick, so this is a provider choice rather than a new messaging capability.

State of this integration
Gupshup is on the roadmap. Nothing is built, no routing path exists in the product, and this page carries no evidence line because there is nothing to evidence.
It is important to separate two things that get conflated. WhatsApp messaging is live in Surhires: a stack of more than fifteen edge functions handles sending, routing, AI reply handling, follow-up nudges and flows, and it is generally available for India-market recruiting. What is not built is a fourth provider path through Gupshup. The capability exists; this particular route to it does not.
This is a routing choice, not a new capability
Everything a recruiter does with WhatsApp in the product is provider-agnostic by design. The composer, the session window countdown, the template picker, opt-in capture, STOP suppression, the reply handler and the flow runner all sit above the router. The provider underneath is a tenant configuration.
So adding Gupshup would not give a desk a new feature. It would let a desk that already sends through Gupshup keep doing so while getting the recruitment workflow on top. Nobody switches to Surhires to get Gupshup; a firm already on Gupshup avoids a migration.
That distinction is worth stating because integration pages tend to imply that each new logo unlocks something. Here it does not, and pretending otherwise would misrepresent both the roadmap and the product.
Why a firm wants a specific provider
The reasons are commercial and operational rather than technical, and they are legitimate. A firm may have a negotiated rate card that a smaller organisation cannot get by going direct. It may have an account manager who resolves delivery problems in an hour rather than through a support queue. It may be inside a contract term with a minimum commitment.
The template library is the other reason, and it is underrated. An established sender has dozens of approved templates in multiple languages, each of which took a submission cycle to get through review. Those approvals live with the WhatsApp Business Account and the provider tooling around it, and rebuilding them is a project measured in weeks, not an afternoon.
Add the number itself, the display name, the quality rating built up over months, and the case for keeping a provider becomes obvious.
- An existing negotiated rate card and commitment term
- An approved template library across several languages
- A number with an established quality rating and display name
- Support and escalation relationships that already work
What is available to an India desk today
Three routing paths ship: Meta Cloud API directly, Twilio, and DoubleTick. Any of them can carry an India-market desk today, and the recruitment workflow is identical across all three.
If you are starting fresh, going direct through the Meta Cloud API with your own WhatsApp Business Account is usually the simplest arrangement, and the one with the fewest parties between you and delivery. If you already run Twilio for voice, using the same credentials for WhatsApp keeps the account count down.
If you are on Gupshup today and unwilling to move, the honest answer is that the connector is not built yet and you should weigh that in an evaluation rather than being told it is coming soon.
Whichever of the three routes carries the traffic, the recruitment side is unchanged. A WhatsApp thread sits on the candidate record beside the submittals, the interview history and the disposition codes. A reply moves a stage or raises a task. A follow-up nudge cancels itself the moment the candidate answers. The router is plumbing; the workflow above it is the reason to put WhatsApp inside recruitment software at all.
What would and would not change if it ships
What would change: your tenant configuration names Gupshup, sending goes out over your Gupshup account, and your billing stays with Gupshup at your rates. Your approved templates map into the product's template library rather than being re-submitted.
What would not change: the 24-hour session window rules, because those are Meta's and no provider changes them. Template approval still comes from Meta, granted to your business rather than to us or to Gupshup. Opt-in still has to be captured and recorded. STOP still suppresses tenant-wide.
Anyone suggesting a provider makes those obligations go away is selling something. The rules belong to the platform.
How this page will change
If Gupshup moves into build it will be described as in development, in the future tense, with the scope named. When it ships it will carry an evidence line naming the routing function, in exactly the way the WhatsApp page names its stack today.
There is no partnership with Gupshup, no certification, no reseller arrangement and no listing. If one ever exists it will be stated plainly and dated. Until then this page is what a roadmap item looks like when it is written honestly.
What you get
Roadmap, not built
No Gupshup routing path exists in the product today and no date is published.
WhatsApp already live
Messaging ships through Meta, Twilio and DoubleTick, generally available for India desks.
Provider-agnostic workflow
Composer, templates, consent and reply handling sit above the router, not inside a provider.
Planned as a route
Would add a sending path, not a new messaging feature or a different recruiter experience.
Keep your rate card
Billing would stay with your provider at your negotiated rates rather than through us.
Template library mapping
Existing approved templates would map in rather than being submitted again.
Number continuity
Keep the number, display name and quality rating you have already built up.
Session window unchanged
The 24-hour rule is Meta's; no provider alters it and none is claimed to.
Meta approval unchanged
Templates are still approved by Meta and granted to your business account.
Opt-in still required
Consent capture and recording on the candidate record apply on every route.
STOP still tenant-wide
Opt-out suppresses across every desk and sequence regardless of provider.
Three live alternatives
Meta Cloud API, Twilio and DoubleTick each carry a desk today with identical workflow.
No partnership claimed
No relationship, certification or listing with Gupshup exists or is implied.
Evidenced promotion
The state changes only when a routing function exists to name in the evidence line.
Questions recruiters ask
Can we send WhatsApp through Gupshup today?
No. Gupshup is a roadmap item with nothing built. WhatsApp itself is live and generally available for India-market recruiting through three routes: the Meta Cloud API directly, Twilio, and DoubleTick. If you are willing to use one of those, the full recruitment workflow is available now.
Would a Gupshup connector give us anything WhatsApp does not already do?
No, and that is the point of this page. The composer, session window handling, templates, opt-in capture, STOP suppression, reply handling and flows all sit above the router. Gupshup would be a sending path underneath, so the recruiter experience would be identical to the three routes that already ship.
Why would we want a specific provider at all?
Usually commercial. A negotiated rate card, a commitment term, an account manager who resolves delivery issues quickly, and above all an approved template library in several languages that took months of submission cycles to build. Add an established number and quality rating and the case for not moving is straightforward.
Would Gupshup change the 24-hour session window rules?
No. The session window, the template categories and the approval process belong to Meta and apply identically on every route. Any vendor suggesting a provider removes those constraints is misdescribing the platform. Opt-in capture and STOP suppression remain your obligations and our controls regardless of the route.
Do you have a partnership with Gupshup?
No. There is no partnership, certification, reseller arrangement or directory listing, and we do not show Gupshup as a connected tool anywhere on the site. If a relationship is ever established it will be stated plainly and dated rather than implied through a logo wall.
How should we weigh this in an evaluation?
Treat it as not available. If keeping Gupshup is a hard requirement, that is a real reason to wait or to raise it with us so it is prioritised against other demand. If the requirement is WhatsApp rather than Gupshup specifically, the capability ships today over three other routes.
