Recruitment software that fits a UK desk

Built for agencies running mixed perm and contract desks, with the fields a UK placement actually needs and an honest account of what is not localised yet.

Surhires is recruitment software and applicant tracking system used by UK agencies for CV management, vacancy pipelines, submittals and placements. It records IR35 status against contract placements, captures Right to Work documents with expiry reminders, and supports UK GDPR consent and retention. Support runs from the United States on published hours.

The United Kingdom is a supported market, not a launch market

It is worth being direct about this before anything else on the page. Surhires is operated by Soor LLC, a Delaware company, and the United States is the commercial launch market. The United Kingdom is supported inbound: you can buy, import your database, run your desk and get help, and the product carries the fields a UK agency needs. What you will not get at this stage is a London sales team, a UK phone number, a local account manager or support inside a UK working afternoon.

We could hide that behind a currency switcher and a Union flag. Plenty of software companies do. It tends to surface anyway, usually at the worst moment, so it is better said here. If a local presence is a hard requirement for your buying process, that is a reasonable position and this is not the right time to talk to us.

What is genuinely here is the product. Shared language is not shared go-to-market, but a candidate record, a vacancy pipeline and a submittal work the same way in Leeds as they do in Atlanta once the vocabulary, the compliance fields and the currency are right. Those three things we have done properly.

The vocabulary is the one a UK recruiter uses

Small things signal whether software was built for you or translated for you. A CV is a CV, not a resume. A role is a vacancy or an assignment, not a req. A candidate on a contract desk has a day rate and an umbrella or limited-company arrangement, not an hourly wage and a W-2. Notice periods run in weeks and months, not two weeks by default.

Currency fields carry the currency they were quoted in, so a salary expectation of fifty-five thousand is stored as GBP and not silently compared against a USD band. Dates render day-month-year. Addresses take a postcode rather than a five-digit ZIP, and county is an optional field rather than a required state dropdown.

None of this is clever. It is simply the difference between a system a recruiter trusts and one they route around with a spreadsheet.

  • CV, vacancy, assignment, submittal, placement and rebate used correctly throughout
  • Day rate, umbrella and limited-company fields on contract placements alongside perm salary
  • Notice period captured in weeks or months rather than a fixed two-week assumption
  • GBP stored as the quoted currency on every salary, rate and fee field

IR35 status is recorded against the placement

Off-payroll working is the single largest piece of process a UK contract desk carries that a US-built system does not anticipate. Surhires records the IR35 determination against the contract placement itself: inside or outside scope, who made the determination, the date it was made, and where the status determination statement is filed. The field is mandatory before a contract placement can be closed, in the same way a coded disposition is mandatory before a candidate can be rejected.

That is a capability statement and not a compliance claim, and the distinction matters. The product gives you a structured place to record the determination and an audit trail showing when it changed. It does not make the determination for you, it does not assess a role, and it is not tax advice. Whether your engagements are correctly classified is between you, your client and your accountant.

What it does buy you is the ability to answer a question. When a client or an auditor asks which of your live contractors are inside scope and who signed off on each, that is a filter on a list rather than an afternoon in a filing cabinet.

Right to Work documents live on the candidate record

Right to Work checks are a workflow you run, not a certification we hold. What the product does is give the workflow somewhere to live. Documents are captured against the candidate record with a document type, an issue date and an expiry date, and the expiry generates a reminder before it lands rather than after.

Where a share code has been used, the code and the date it was checked are stored as structured fields. Where a physical or IDVT check was carried out, the person who performed it and the date are recorded. A candidate cannot be moved to placed on a stage machine configured to require it until the check is present.

The compliance posture we publish for this is deliberately narrow: document capture and expiry reminders against the candidate record, with the verification itself remaining your process. We are not going to tell you we have solved a statutory duty that is yours.

A UK agency database is a pile of personal data held for a commercial purpose, and the obligations that come with it are not optional. Every candidate record carries the lawful basis you are relying on, when and through which channel it was captured, and what the candidate was told at the time. Retention windows are configurable per record type, and a record that goes dormant past its window is flagged for review or erasure rather than quietly ageing.

Subject access and erasure are workflows rather than support tickets. A candidate who asks what you hold can be answered from the record. A candidate who asks to be removed is removed, including parsed text, uploaded files and message history, with a note that the request was fulfilled and when. Financial records tied to a completed placement are retained where law requires it, and the workflow says so rather than pretending everything vanished.

You remain the controller for the candidate data you hold. Surhires is a processor and publishes a data processing agreement and a sub-processor register accordingly.

  • Lawful basis, capture date and capture channel stored on every candidate record
  • Configurable retention windows with dormant-record review before erasure
  • Export and erasure as product workflows, not manual database work
  • Published DPA and sub-processor register covering UK and EU transfers

CV-Library, Reed and where the connectors actually stand

CV-Library and Reed are the boards that matter to most UK agencies, and it would be easy to put two logos on this page and move on. Here is the real state. Posting to LinkedIn and Indeed ships today. The CV-Library connector is in development and is not something you can switch on this week. Reed is not built and carries no dated commitment. Multi-board posting, where one vacancy goes to several boards from one form, is in build for the Wave 1 release rather than shipping now.

Until those land, the honest workflow is that you post on the board's own interface and bring applicants in through email capture and bulk CV import, which are live. Bulk import parses a folder of CVs into structured records, runs duplicate detection during the import rather than afterwards, and preserves the original file alongside the parsed text.

We will update the integration pages when each connector goes live, with the date. Nothing on this site shows a board logo it has not earned.

Pricing is shown in sterling, and the sterling is a conversion

The GBP figures on the UK pricing page are conversions from the USD list price and are flagged as unconfirmed pending a founder decision. They are close enough to budget against and not yet a signed-off price sheet. When the sterling pricing is locked we will say so on the page and date it.

The commercial terms themselves are settled: a three-seat minimum on Starter and Professional, a fourteen-day trial with no credit card, no free-forever tier, and annual billing that takes roughly seventeen percent off the monthly rate. Enterprise carries a platform fee alongside seats, quoted in USD, and onboarding or migration work is scoped and priced at the point of sale rather than published as a number.

Support runs on United States hours

Support is Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern Time. In practical terms that is roughly one in the afternoon until one in the morning UK time. Your morning is not covered; your afternoon is. Onboarding sessions, migration calls and account reviews are scheduled inside that window, which for a UK desk usually means an afternoon slot.

This is the clearest cost of buying from a supported market rather than a launch market, so it belongs on the page rather than in a footnote. If your desk needs a nine-in-the-morning answer on a Tuesday, weigh that honestly before you buy.

Questions recruiters ask

Is Surhires a UK company?

No. Surhires is operated by Soor LLC, registered in Delaware in the United States. There is no UK entity, no UK office and no UK phone number. UK customers contract with the US entity, and the data processing agreement and sub-processor register set out how UK and EU data is handled.

Does the product handle IR35 for us?

It records the determination, it does not make it. The contract placement carries an inside or outside scope field, who determined it, the date, and where the status determination statement is filed, and the placement cannot close without it if you configure that rule. Classification remains a matter for you, your client and your advisers.

Can we post vacancies to CV-Library and Reed?

Not today. The CV-Library connector is in development and Reed is not built, with no dated commitment. Posting to LinkedIn and Indeed ships now, and multi-board posting is in build for the Wave 1 release. Until those land you post on the board and bring applicants in through bulk CV import and email capture.

Is the pricing on the UK page final?

No. The sterling figures are conversions from the USD list price and are flagged as unconfirmed pending a founder decision. Budget against them by all means, but treat them as indicative rather than as a signed price sheet. The USD figures are shown alongside so you can see exactly what the conversion was applied to.

What are your support hours from the UK?

Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern Time, which is roughly early afternoon to just after midnight in the United Kingdom. A UK morning question will usually be answered in your afternoon. Onboarding and migration calls are scheduled in that same window, so expect an afternoon slot rather than a morning one.

Where is our candidate data stored?

Primary data residency is AWS us-east-1 in the United States, with encrypted backups. UK and EU personal data is transferred on the basis set out in the data processing agreement. If UK-only or EU-only residency is a contractual requirement for you, raise it during the sales conversation rather than after, because it is not the default.

Do you handle payroll for our contractors?

No. Surhires is recruitment software, not a pay and bill system, an HRIS or a payroll bureau. It records the placement, the rate, the margin and the fee, and raises the placement invoice. Timesheets, umbrella payments and PAYE run in whatever back-office system you already use.

See it against your own reqs

Bring one live role and three resumes. In twenty minutes you will see the match scores, the shortlist and the placement invoice that comes out the other end.
