Recruitment software built around an Australian desk

Seek-led sourcing, state-based labour-hire licensing and working-rights checks, with support hours that sit outside your working afternoon and no local office.

Surhires is recruitment software and applicant tracking system used by Australian agencies for candidate databases, job pipelines, submissions and placements. It captures labour-hire licence details by state with expiry reminders, records working-rights checks against visa class, and supports Australian Privacy Principles and Spam Act consent handling.

Australia is a supported market, not a launch market

The straight version first. Surhires is operated by Soor LLC, a Delaware company, and the United States is the commercial launch market. Australia is supported inbound. You can buy, import your database, run your desk and get help, and the product carries the fields an Australian agency actually needs. There is no Sydney or Melbourne office, no Australian phone number, no local account manager, and support does not run inside your working afternoon.

This page exists because Australian recruiters searching for recruitment software deserve a real answer in their own currency and terminology, not because there is a local sales team waiting for the enquiry. Shared language is not shared go-to-market: privacy expectations, messaging rules, tax handling, currency, terminology and the competitive landscape are all different here, and pretending otherwise would show up in the first week of use.

If a local presence, an Australian entity or business-hours support in AEST is a hard requirement, that is entirely reasonable and this is not the right product for you yet.

Seek is the centre of gravity, and the connector is not live yet

Any honest account of Australian recruitment starts with Seek. For most agencies it is the primary source of applicant flow and the board a client expects to see a role on. Recruitment software that cannot deal sensibly with Seek is missing the middle of the workflow.

So here is the state. The Seek connector is in development. It is not something you can switch on today. Posting to LinkedIn and Indeed ships now. Multi-board posting, where one job goes to several boards from a single form, is in build for the Wave 1 release rather than live.

Until the connector lands, the working pattern is that you post on Seek's own interface and bring applicants in through email capture and bulk resume import, both of which are live. Bulk import parses a folder of resumes into structured records, runs duplicate detection during the import rather than afterwards, and keeps the original file next to the parsed text. It is more manual than a connector and it is not a blocker for a working desk.

Labour-hire licensing is captured as fields with expiry

Labour-hire licensing in Australia is administered state by state rather than nationally, and an agency supplying workers across borders can be dealing with more than one scheme at once. The product treats a licence as a structured record: the issuing jurisdiction, the licence number, the holder, the issue date and the expiry date, with a reminder before the expiry rather than a discovery afterwards.

Placements can be configured to require a current licence for the relevant jurisdiction before they can be closed, in the same way a coded disposition is required before a candidate can be rejected. That turns a compliance obligation into a field somebody has to fill rather than a policy somebody has to remember.

The usual caveat applies and it is not boilerplate. The product records and reminds. It does not apply for a licence, does not assess whether a particular engagement falls inside a scheme, and does not constitute advice about which scheme applies to your business. Where the schemes differ, that is your interpretation to make.

  • Licence jurisdiction, number, holder, issue date and expiry stored as structured fields
  • Expiry reminders raised ahead of the date rather than after a lapse
  • Placement rules that can require a current licence for the relevant state before closing
  • Change history on licence fields, so an audit question has a dated answer

Working rights recorded against visa class

A large share of Australian temporary and contract placements involve a candidate whose right to work is tied to a visa with conditions and an end date. The candidate record carries the visa class, the conditions that matter for the placement, the expiry, and the date and outcome of the check you ran through the government verification service.

The verification itself is a workflow you run. The product stores the result, reminds you before the visa expires, and can require the check before a candidate is placed. It does not perform the check, does not interpret visa conditions, and does not hold a status it has not been given.

That distinction, capability rather than claim, is applied consistently across this site. We publish what the product supports and where responsibility sits, and we do not issue ourselves compliance certificates.

Australian Privacy Principles and the candidate record

A candidate database is a collection of personal information held for a commercial purpose, and the Australian Privacy Principles set expectations about notice, use, quality, security, access and correction. The product supports those obligations as fields and workflows rather than as a policy document.

Each candidate record carries why the information is held, when and through which channel it was collected, and what the candidate was told at collection. Retention windows are configurable, and a dormant record past its window is flagged for review. Access and correction requests are answered from the record, and erasure removes the profile, parsed text, files and messages while retaining the financial records attached to a completed placement where law requires it.

Primary data residency is AWS us-east-1 in the United States. If Australian data residency is a contractual requirement for you, raise it in the sales conversation rather than after signing, because it is not the default and we are not going to imply that it is.

Outbound messaging under the Spam Act

Australian rules on commercial electronic messages are stricter than the ones Surhires was originally built against, and they apply to a recruiter's outreach. Three things matter: consent, clear sender identification, and a working unsubscribe that is honoured.

The product supports all three as capability. Consent state is captured on the candidate record with its date and channel. Cadences carry sender identification and an unsubscribe mechanism. Unsubscribes and STOP-style replies write to a suppression list that applies across channels, so a candidate who opts out of email does not receive the next SMS in the sequence. Reply Handler classifies inbound responses so an opt-out is acted on rather than sitting unread in an inbox.

Whether a given campaign is lawful depends on how you configure and send it. The product gives you the controls and the audit trail; the judgement about consent and content stays with you.

  • Consent state, date and channel captured per candidate and per messaging channel
  • Sender identification and unsubscribe handling built into cadences
  • Cross-channel suppression, so an email opt-out also stops the SMS and WhatsApp steps
  • Inbound replies classified so opt-outs are actioned rather than missed

Pricing in Australian dollars is a conversion

The AUD figures on the Australian pricing page are conversions from the USD list price and are flagged as unconfirmed pending a founder decision. Budget against them; do not treat them as a locked local price sheet. The USD figures are shown next to them so you can see exactly what the conversion applies to.

The commercial terms are settled: a three-seat minimum on Starter and Professional and five on Enterprise, a fourteen-day trial with no credit card, no free-forever tier, and roughly seventeen percent off for annual billing. GST is excluded from the listed figures and its treatment depends on your own registration, which the pricing page explains.

Support hours fall outside the Australian working afternoon

Support runs Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern Time in the United States. In Sydney that is roughly late evening through to late morning the following day, shifting by an hour or two as daylight saving changes on either side of the Pacific.

In practical terms: your morning is covered, your afternoon is not. A question raised at two in the afternoon in Melbourne will usually be answered overnight and waiting when you open the laptop. Onboarding sessions, migration calls and account reviews are scheduled inside the US window, which for an Australian team usually means an early morning slot.

This is the most concrete cost of buying from a supported market rather than a launch market, which is why it is on the page in plain words rather than in a footnote nobody reads.

Questions recruiters ask

Is there an Australian office or phone number?

No. Surhires is operated by Soor LLC in Delaware, United States. There is no Australian entity, office, account manager or phone number. Australia is supported inbound rather than sold into locally, and support runs on US Eastern hours. We would rather say that here than have you discover it during your first busy week.

Can we post jobs to Seek?

Not yet. The Seek connector is in development and is not switchable today. Posting to LinkedIn and Indeed ships now, and multi-board posting from one form is in build for the Wave 1 release. Until then, post on Seek directly and bring applicants in through email capture and bulk resume import, both live.

How does it handle labour-hire licensing?

As structured fields with expiry reminders: jurisdiction, licence number, holder, issue and expiry dates, with a rule that can require a current licence before a placement closes. It records and reminds. It does not apply for a licence, assess which state scheme applies to an engagement, or provide advice about your obligations.

Does it check working rights against a visa?

It records them. Visa class, relevant conditions, expiry, and the date and outcome of the check you ran through the government verification service are stored on the candidate, with reminders before expiry and an optional rule blocking placement without a check. Running the verification remains your workflow, not something the product performs.

Where is our data stored?

Primary data residency is AWS us-east-1 in the United States, with encrypted backups. Australian personal information is transferred on the basis set out in the data processing agreement, and the sub-processor register is published. If Australian residency is a contractual requirement, raise it during the sales conversation, because it is not the default arrangement.

Are the Australian dollar prices final?

No. They are conversions from the USD list price, flagged as unconfirmed pending a founder decision, and the USD figures are shown alongside so the conversion is visible. Budget against them, but do not treat them as a signed local price sheet. When AUD pricing is locked we will date the change on the pricing page.

What time will support actually answer?

Support runs Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm US Eastern Time, which in Sydney is roughly late evening through to late morning the next day, shifting with daylight saving. Your morning is covered and your afternoon is not. An afternoon question is usually answered overnight and waiting when you start the next day.

See it against your own reqs

Bring one live role and three resumes. In twenty minutes you will see the match scores, the shortlist and the placement invoice that comes out the other end.
