In development
In buildRun an in-house hiring loop inside the tool your company already runs
The Teams connector is in active build for Wave 1 and is not connected today; it will post hiring events into a channel and generate interview meeting links.
The Microsoft Teams integration is in development for the Wave 1 release and is not available yet. When it ships it will post hiring events into a Teams channel and generate meeting links for scheduled interviews, so an in-house talent team can run a hiring loop without moving stakeholders into another tool.

In the product: in build for Wave 1: channel notifications and meeting links for interviews
State of this integration
This connector is being built, not shipping. The Wave 1 scope is channel notifications and meeting links for interviews. Nothing described here can be switched on today, and it is written in the future tense for that reason.
The Teams connector matters to a different buyer than the Slack one. Agencies run Slack; corporate in-house talent teams almost always run Microsoft 365, and their hiring managers, finance approvers and IT administrators all live in Teams. For that buyer, an integration that ends at notifications is not enough, which is why meeting links are in the first release.
The corporate hiring loop has more people in it
An agency desk has a recruiter, a client contact and a candidate. An in-house requisition has a hiring manager, a second interviewer, a panel, a finance approver for the headcount, sometimes a legal reviewer for an offer, and a talent coordinator holding it together.
Most of those people will never open a recruitment system. They will approve a requisition in a chat message, give interview feedback in a hallway, and ask the coordinator where things stand. The information the process needs is generated outside the system and then typed back into it, badly, by whoever has time.
The Teams connector is aimed squarely at that gap: put the event where the people are, and put the link back to the record next to it.
Meeting links generated with the interview, not after it
The part of this connector that is not just notifications is meeting generation. When an interview is scheduled in Surhires, the planned behaviour is that a Teams meeting is created against the organiser's calendar and the join link is attached to the interview record, the panel invitations and the candidate confirmation.
That closes the most common coordination failure in corporate hiring, which is a confirmed interview with no working link, discovered four minutes before it starts. It also means a reschedule updates one meeting rather than creating a second one and leaving the candidate holding two links.
Recordings and transcripts, where a tenant enables them, stay in Microsoft 365 under your retention policy. The product will link to them rather than copying them.
- Meeting created when the interview is booked, not as a manual follow-up step
- Join link attached to the interview record, the panel invite and the candidate confirmation
- Reschedules update the existing meeting rather than issuing a second link
- Cancellations withdraw the meeting from every attendee's calendar
What will be posted, and what will not
Channel posts will follow the same rule as the Slack connector. Events and links, not personal data. A requisition opened, a candidate submitted to a hiring manager, an interview booked or slipped, an offer issued or accepted, a start date confirmed.
Candidate contact details, resumes, salary expectations and any demographic data will stay inside the product. Demographic data used for equal-opportunity reporting is stored separately from the hiring record and is not visible to recruiters at all, which makes it categorically unsuitable for a chat channel that half the department can read and export.
The link in the post resolves against the product's permission model. A person without a seat, or with a seat but without rights to that requisition, follows the link and sees nothing.
Installation, tenancy and administrator control
The connector will install as a Microsoft Teams app, authorised by a Microsoft 365 administrator, with a permission scope limited to posting into nominated channels and creating meetings for consenting organisers. Corporate IT will be able to review the scopes before approving, which is the normal gate for anything entering a Microsoft 365 tenant.
For organisations that restrict third-party apps, the connector will be optional rather than load-bearing: the product works without it and the notifications fall back to email digests and the in-product task list.
Where Teams and Outlook meet
The Teams connector and the Outlook connector are separate build items with separate permissions, and both are in development for Wave 1. Meeting creation touches the calendar, and calendar access is requested as its own consent rather than bundled into a mailbox permission.
That separation is deliberate. A talent team frequently wants interview scheduling on the calendar without granting mailbox access, and an IT administrator is far more likely to approve two narrow scopes than one broad one.
What this connector will not attempt
It will not be an approval workflow engine. Requisition approval chains that live in a corporate finance system stay there; the connector announces the state, it does not become the system of record for a headcount sign-off.
It will also not import your Teams chat history or read messages. There is no product reason to read a corporate chat archive, and asking for that scope would fail the first IT review it met.
What you get
Channel notifications
Hiring events posted into nominated Teams channels, in build for Wave 1.
Interview meeting links
A Teams meeting created when the interview is booked, with the link on the record.
Reschedule handling
An existing meeting is updated rather than a second link being issued.
Cancellation handling
A withdrawn interview removes the meeting from every attendee's calendar.
Panel invitations
Interviewers receive the invite with the requisition context and the join link.
Candidate confirmation
The join link is included in the candidate confirmation and reminder messages.
Requisition events
Openings, submittals, interviews, offers and start dates announced to the channel.
Link-only payloads
Posts carry references and links; candidate personal data stays behind permissions.
Demographic data excluded
Equal-opportunity data is stored separately and is never sent to a channel.
Administrator install
Installed by a Microsoft 365 administrator with reviewable, narrow scopes.
Separate calendar consent
Meeting creation is its own permission rather than bundled with mailbox access.
Optional by design
The product works without it; notifications fall back to digests and the task list.
Recording stays in tenancy
Teams recordings and transcripts remain under your Microsoft 365 retention policy.
No chat history access
The app does not request or read your organisation's Teams message history.
Questions recruiters ask
Is the Teams integration available today?
No. It is in active build for Wave 1, with channel notifications and interview meeting links as the scope. There is nothing to enable yet. The status badge on this page will change from in development to live only when the connector actually ships, and the evidence line will name what carries it.
Will it create the interview meeting automatically?
That is the planned behaviour. Booking an interview will create a Teams meeting against the organiser's calendar and attach the join link to the interview record, the panel invitations and the candidate confirmation. A reschedule will update that meeting rather than issuing a second link to a confused candidate.
What will our IT administrator have to approve?
A Teams app with scopes limited to posting into nominated channels and creating meetings for organisers who consent. Calendar access is requested separately from mailbox access, because talent teams often want scheduling without granting a mailbox scope and narrow requests get approved more often than broad ones.
Will candidate data appear in Teams channels?
No. Posts will carry events and links only. Contact details, resumes, salary expectations and demographic data stay in the product. Demographic data used for equal-opportunity reporting is held separately from the hiring record and is not visible to recruiters, let alone to a channel with departmental membership.
Do interview recordings end up in Surhires?
No. Where your tenant enables Teams recording and transcription, those artefacts remain in Microsoft 365 under your own retention policy. The product will link to them from the interview record rather than copying them into a second system with a second retention clock.
Is Microsoft a partner of yours?
No. When the connector ships it will use the publicly documented Microsoft Graph and Teams app APIs. Nothing on this page implies a partnership, a certification, a marketplace listing or an endorsement, and we will not use one in our marketing unless one exists.
